Local Weather Forecast

Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 10:47pm by Greg Vidaurri

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy; low temperature of 75 F.

Friday: Hot and humid with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm in the evening (20%); expect a high temperature of 98 F with a heat index as high as 104 F.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy; low temperature of 75 F.

Discussion: The Dog Days are back in a big way! High pressure has made its way into our weather pattern and will linger here into next week.  In the presence of a sea breeze front, a small area of low pressure near the Texas/Louisiana border might spark some scattered showers and thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon. Regardless, anticyclonic flow is an increasingly prominent feature on recent water vapor images. From this we can expect high temperatures near the century mark and generous amounts of sunshine.

Abroad, shower and thunderstorm activity has definitely picked up over the Atlantic and Caribbean. Although rapid organization/intensification is unlikely, there are several tropical waves worth watching.

Until I post again next week, keep cool and stay hydrated!

Best,

Greg
